- No. A Ticket Home Award is our promise to help new military members pay travel expenses for a visit home after arriving at their first permanent duty station.
- Typically, a Ticket Home Award is worth $500 if you are coming home from somewhere in the US, and up to $1,000 if you are coming home from an overseas base.
If a portion of your flight home takes place on a military contracted flight or is otherwise covered by the military, the amount of your award will be based on the portion of travel that you pay for. For example, if you are traveling from a base outside the United States to a location within the United States, and your travel to the United States takes place on a military contracted flighty, your trip will be considered a domestic trip worth $500.
You are able to use you Ticket Home Award for travel that begins on or after the date you have been notified that you have received a Ticket Home Award.
No, you will purchase your own ticket and we will mail you a check to apply towards the cost of your travel expenses.
Yes, if the travel begins on or after your Award Notification date.
Ticket Home Award must be used before you PCS (Permanent Change of Station) UNLESS you PCS prior to making a trip home since arriving at your first duty station.
Your Ticket Home Award must be used for a trip where you are traveling home. If there extenuating circumstances, please contact us.
Your Ticket Home Award is a set amount regardless of the cost of your travel expenses. If your travel expenses are less than the Ticket Home Award amount, you may use the extra money for other expenses.
Yes.
Once you submit your required documentation, we will mail you a check to arrive at the address you are visiting if you are traveling to an address in the United States. If you are traveling to an address outside the United States, we will mail you a check to your military address.
- If you are flying home, submit your approved leave form and your flight receipt to tickethome@benjacksonfoundation.org.
- If you are driving home, submit your approved leave form and your gas receipts from your trip to tickethome@benjacksonfoundation.org.
